The Valley is a Dream: Mount Gilboa and the Hidden Valley

They say the Valley is a Dream? So let’s get out and discover it all!

Join Finjan for a beautiful day-hike through meadows filled with spring flowers above the lush valleys of northern Israel, including the famous, hidden valley! March is the ideal time to discover this special part of Israel and as usual, our legs will take us through some of these precious, natural reserves.

The day will begin with a laddered ascent through the Yitzpor Stream pocked with a variety of wild flowers and lush glens. From there we will make our way to Mount Barkan for views across the northern areas of the West Bank and the Dotan Valley before descending towards the Hidden Valley towards the original site of kibbutz Tel Yosef.

The Harod Valley is where a number of Israel’s first, collective farming communities were established and the Hidden Valley was used as a place by these farmers to train in guerrilla warfare tactics while hiding weapons from the British authorities.

The descent via the Hidden Valley is sharp and steep with ladders and is done at a slow pace; it is suitable for anyone taking it at an easy pace.

This is a classic intermediate hike and is perfect for all types of hikers. Participants must be 18+ to join unless otherwise approved by Finjan.
