This is a beautiful hike which includes an array of panoramic views of the Sea of Galilee and Golan Heights. Our day will start on the eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee as we ascend the western volcanic slopes of the southern Golan Heights.

The hike is a full day trek and is suited for all hikers. A classic intermediate hike. No experience needed.

SUSSITA: Like many other sites across the Galilee and Golan Heights dating to the Greek period, Sussita follows the naming structure based on assigning animal names to cities and towns. Sussita – or Hippos – as it was known to the Greeks due to its appearance reminding those of a ‘horse’ over the Sea of Galilee, was one of the 10 capital cities surrounding the Jordan river. The site saw continuous Greek and Roman settlement and eventually fell under Christian control with the conversion of the Roman empire. The site combines beautiful views and a vast array of archeological remains.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS

* This trip requires sturdy shoes (no flip flops) suited for rocky terrain

* 4.5 Litres of water per person + hat + sunscreen

* Each participant is responsible for his or her own personal security and health.

Departure time is at 06:00 sharp from Tel Aviv Savidor Merkaz (Central Train Station/Arlozorov).  Return to the same point by 21:00. The bus will leave promptly and on time! Those who arrive early will have the chance to enjoy some cookies and coffee prior to departure.
