Halfway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv is the city of Ramla. During the Middle Ages, Ramla was one of a handful of capital cities in the early years of Islam and became a major center of Levantine culture and trade. Today, it is definitely one of most exciting places you have yet to experience.
And the best part is that it’s situated halfway between the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It’s also a great way to get into the Christmas season with its Christmas market and holiday atmosphere!
Join us as we eat and drink our way through the city, discovering the city’s special role in the early days of Islam, its mix of vibrant cultures and wonderful flavours from across the globe. Our visit will include the White Tower / Mosque, Arched Pools, Franciscan Church, local Souq (Shuk) and other secrets along the way.
After the trip, you can explore the Christmas market and eat with us at one of our favorite local spots.
This is a Friday morning trip to Ramla in which we will explore the city’s special history and abundance of culinary delights. We will meet in the President’s Garden at 09:00. There are buses and sheruts from Tel Aviv that drop you off 5 minutes walking from the location point. You can also arrive by train from Tel Aviv (sometimes you must change briefly in Lod – beware of new train regulations due to COVID 19).
Buses also run frequently from Jerusalem (and in between). Make sure you check the timetables carefully since there is sometimes construction on the train tracks on Friday (as of this event being published the trains are running on Friday)
