Trip Type:Kayaking adventure
Finjan is ready to take you on an African savannah adventure across the floodplains of the Sea of Galilee. The last two rainy seasons have flooded the area around the Sea of Galilee and created a unique opportunity for exploration only accessible with kayaks. It’s a slice of Africa right in our back yard!
Our three-hour kayaking experience will venture through different areas around the sea of Galilee that for years had been completely dry due to the lack of rain and flooding. We will kayak through marshy swamp lands and the basins of different streams that flow into the Sea of Galilee, including the point where the Jordan meets the Kinneret.
Surrounding us will be unique flora and fauna highlighted by a vasty variety of wading birds, lake divers, mongooses and ravenous catfish. We will also make a stop at what many archeologists now believe to be the site of Bethsaida (Tel el-Araj / Julius) mentioned in the Gospels.
Waiting for us at the ending of the trip will be a delicious Potjie (Poike) dinner – both meat and vegetarian – cold beer and wine.
This is the first Finjan outing of its kind and truly a unique experience that may disappear in the coming years. The trip will depart early Saturday afternoon and return after midnight.
