Join Finjan for a special evening during Hanukkah in the town of Bnei Brak and more profound look into the communities within Ultra Orthodox Jewry. The Festival of Lights (Hanukkah) is something that you must experience in Bnei Brak.
We have the opportunity to explore this unique enclave of different Ultra Orthodox Jewish groups with our good friend and local guide Eliezer Weiss – an activist in the PLUGTA Initiative which aims to facilitate more understanding between secular Israelis and the Ultra Orthodox communities. He just so happens to be one of the most hardcore hikers we know – so it was only natural that we would arrange this special outing with him.
Our evening will include a special tour of the neighborhoods in Bnei Brak after lighting the Hanukkah candles. Our tour will include a stop at the Ponovich Yeshiva (study center) – a flagship of Ultra Orthodox education. The streets of Bnei Brak together with Eliezer’s guidance and insight will be the material that takes us through the evening journey. Everything around us will be used as a tool to better understand how these communities have managed to keep these rich traditions.
After the tour, those interested, are welcome to join us at Eliezer’s house for some light snacks and more discussion / Q&A. This is included in the price of the ticket.
