TRIP OVERVIEW

Join Finjan on the ancient trails of the high mountains of Sinai!

On this trek we will explore the mysteries hidden in the high mountainous region around St. Katherine monastery, hiking through the high peaks, narrow gorges, cold desert pools, and hidden valleys where the local Bedouins grow wonderful orchards, and finish at the stunning shores of Sinai: a taste of the best this amazing region has to offer!

We will be accompanied by a local team taking care of the logistics using camels to carry our bags, so you can hike with a small day pack.

Trip Itinerary:

Tuesday June 14th: Meet up at the Taba border crossing, crossing the border, drive to Saint Katherine area, meet local team, load the camels, ascending Wadi Sharig and Wadi Shag Tinia, swimming in the pool of Kharza, camping in Sho’ub’s orchard.

Total hiking distance of 8km, depending on delays at the border, we can possibly be hiking after dark using head lamps.

Wednesday 15th: hiking Wadi Sagar and Wadi Abu Tawita, swimming in the amazing blue pool of Gulat al Azrak, raspberrys Gorge, ascending to Faresh Romana, camping at Khsein’s ancient orchard.

Total hiking 15km with steep ascents and descents.

Thursday 16th: hiking greater Wadi Tal’aa, Jabel Umm Luza, Jabrl Abbas Basha, camping in Wadi Zaitoun at Hajia Umria’s orchard (the oldest female shepherd in the Jibalia mountains)

Total hiking distance: 12km with steep ascents and descents.

Friday 17th: hiking Wadi Abu Jiffa, the surprise gorge, Naqb Abu Sila, car drive to our camping site at Faraj’s orchard. A free evening at Saint Katherine town.

Total hiking distance: 12 km of wonders.

Saturday 18th: Early ascent to Jabel Musa, if time and Covid regulations permits, a visit to Saint Katherine monastery.

A drive to Ras al Shaitan beach for snorkeling and last lunch together.

Drive to the Taba border crossing.

Those who wish to extend their stay in Sinai, can stay independently at any point of choice.

Logistics

Meet up at Taba border crossing at Tuesday June 14th at 7:00AM.

What To Bring

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of the trek.

  • Large backpack for your sleeping gear and extra clothes.
  • Sleeping bag and sleeping mat.
  • Day pack you will be hiking with.
  • Extra clothes
  • Warm clothes for the evening (we will be sleeping at heights of 1500-1700m above sea level)
  • Extra money for personal expenses, covid checks, tips etc. (100-120$ will be more than enough)
  • Head lamp
  • Breakfast and lunch for the first day.
  • Eating utensils (plate, spork & cup)
  • Swimming clothes.
  • Good hiking shoes.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Any medication you take regularly.

Refunds and Cancellations

This trip is limited in number of participants and requires a minimum number of participants for the trip to take place

All refund requests and cancellations must be sent officially to our email as listed on the homepage of this website. Participants can also issue requests by telephone. The policy listed below is non-negotiable unless stated otherwise by Finjan: Israel Unfiltered.

  • Cancellations with full refund can be made up to 21 days prior to the date of the trek.
  • Cancellations with partial refund of 75% will be issued up to 14 days prior to the date of the trek.
  • Cancellations from 13-7 days prior to the date of the trek will include 50% Refund
  • Cancellations made from 7 days prior to the date of the trek, will be completely NON refundable unless otherwise agreed between participant and Finjan
  • Due to COVID-19 regulations, all issues regarding testing for non Israelis and Israelis alike is subject to change and Finjan is not liable for any cost incurred
  • Should a traveller test positive in Egypt before returning to Israel, he or she will have to remain in Egypt in accordance with Israeli policy. Finjan does not cover any cost associated with this.
  • The hiking routes are subject to change according to the weather conditions
  • Daily routes are subject to change based on weather and as designated by the Egyptian authorities

All participants are responsible for his or her own safety and we require that participants adhere to the laws of the country within which they are traveling. Finjan is not responsible for unlawful acts by its participants.
