Meeting Time:06:15
Completion Time: 20:00
Our hike will begin with a quick descent down to St. George’s Monastery, one of three active sites of desert monasticism dating back over 1500 years. The monastery hangs between the crags of Wadi Qelt and has a rich history with many spiritual phenomena and ancient legends.
After visiting the monastery, we will continue with King Herod’s ancient water channel that has been in continuous use for over 2000 years! The channel will lead us towards our first swimming stop at Ein Qelt – the Qelt Spring! Along the way to the spring, we will be surrounded by enchanting scenery and gorgeous vistas.
Ein Qelt has a number of watering holes where everyone can find their own tranquil spot to relax and take in the fresh spring water, the source of Wadi Qelt’s year round water. From Ein Qelt, we will make our way through the riverbeds, in and out of the water, trekking towards Ein Mabua.
The price of the trip is 169.50 NIS at the Early Bird Discount of which there are a limited number of tickets. From there, the price will jump to 189.50.
PLEASE NOTE: This trip is located in Area C in the West Bank and is beyond the Green Line as designated by the Israeli government.
Due to the hot weather conditions, we will be extra vigilant regarding water and all participants must have at least 4.5 litres – this is something we will check. Should there be an extreme heat wave, we will postpone the trip. Participants must have something to keep the sun directly off their head! Make sure to have your swimming costumes!
Sturdy footwear is required. There are many parts walking through ankle high water, so plan accordingly. No hiking in flip-flops or crocs due to the slippery conditions.
