TRIP OVERVIEW

Passover and Easter are getting close, and it is time for our favourite hike of the year: crossing the desert to the Dead Sea with the bedouins!
This year: trekking down to the oasis of Ein Gedi, following an ancient trail, used by shepherds, rebels and Balsam merchants for thousands of years. This well built trail was probably the escape route king David took on his flight from Saul, and provides amazing landscapes of the Dead Sea and the mighty cliffs surrounding it.

Reaching the canyon of Nahal David, we will enjoy refreshing dips in the waterfalls of pools of the rare desert oasis.

As every year we will enjoy Farhan Rashayda and his wonderful family’s genorous bedouin hospitality and endless cups of tea with plenty of sugar!

Trip plan:

  • Pick up from Tel Aviv, Rehovot (optional), and Jerusalem to the area of Rashayda deep in the desert.
  • Visit Farhan’s family who lives traditional bedouin life, learn about the desert culture
  • Hike to the camp site built for us in the desert (10Km)
  • Dinner and preformence by Abu Souliman- a renown Rababa player
